What is a QR code generator?
A QR code generator turns information such as website links, contact details, Wi-Fi settings or plain text into a QR image that compatible cameras and scanners can read. The homepage lets you generate static QR codes and download PNG files for free without an account.
How do I scan a QR code on modern smartphones?
If your phone camera supports QR scanning, point it at the code and follow the on-screen prompt. You can also use our QR scanner to choose, drop or paste an image. On supported devices, Use Camera lets you take a photo for scanning.
What is the key difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
Static QR codes store their content directly in the image and cannot be edited after printing. The app does not add an expiry to static QR images, although linked content can stop working. Dynamic codes created through the signed-in generator use a saved link, allowing content updates and visit tracking while that link and the service remain available.
Can I change a dynamic QR destination after printing physical flyers?
Yes, if you printed a dynamic code saved in your account. Edit its destination or content from the dashboard; the printed code continues to use the same tracking link. Changing its colors, logo or other visual design requires downloading and printing a new image. The content of a static code downloaded from the homepage cannot be changed after printing.
Why choose custom branded QR codes over standard black-and-white grids?
The full generator lets you customize foreground and background colors, patterns, corner shapes, frames and a logo to match your brand. You can also adjust the image size and margins. Keep strong contrast and test the finished code before sharing or printing; a custom design does not guarantee more scans.
How does Reed-Solomon error correction protect custom QR codes?
Error correction adds redundancy that can help a scanner recover damaged data. The homepage uses level H; the full generator offers L, M, Q and H. A higher level does not guarantee that an oversized logo or damaged print will scan. Test your final design.
Which file format should I download for professional printing (SVG vs PNG)?
The homepage offers PNG and SVG downloads; log in or register to download SVG. The full generator downloads PNG, and saved dashboard codes offer PNG, JPEG and SVG. PDF export is not available. SVG is useful for resizing vector artwork, but embedded raster images still have resolution limits. Check the exported file at its intended print size.
What is the recommended minimum print size for optical scanning?
There is no single minimum print size that works for every QR code. Choose a size for the amount of encoded information, viewing distance and print quality. Leave a clear border, maintain strong contrast and test a sample at its final printed size with the devices and conditions your audience will use. The app does not validate physical print sizes.
What telemetry data is logged during a dynamic QR scan?
Visits to saved tracking links record the time, QR identifiers, IP address, inferred device type, operating system and browser, the user-agent string and the referring page when available. Approximate city and country are added when the IP lookup succeeds. These are recorded link visits, not verified unique people or guaranteed camera scans. Direct static QR codes do not send scan events to this dashboard.
Is scan analytics collection compliant with GDPR and CCPA privacy standards?
For tracked QR links, we store the scan time, QR code identifiers, IP address, device type, operating system, browser, user-agent string and referring page when available. IP addresses may be sent to ip-api.com to estimate city and country. QR owners can view analytics for their own codes. Our Privacy Policy explains data handling and privacy requests. We do not provide a blanket guarantee of GDPR or CCPA compliance.
Can we generate dynamic QR codes in bulk via CSV or developer REST API?
CSV bulk generation and a public developer API for QR generation are not currently available. You can create QR codes individually after signing in and duplicate saved codes from the dashboard.
